Asset/license inventory?

By ptoms ·
I just started at a law firm as the "computer guy". They have 50+ users in 3 offices, and no real record of who has what for hardware and software. Inventory and licensing control is going to be a major project if I have to do it by hand. Is there software out there, preferably inexpensive (the IS budget is pretty skimpy), that will "survey" the network and find out what hardware and/or software is in use? My previous job used NetCensus, which was okay, but I think it's pretty expensive.Any ideas would be appreciated!

LANauditor is very reasonable. They have a free 25 user license if you want to give it a try first. It tracks hardware and software, just like what you seem to want.

Perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for, and the free license is enough for this main office, and I'll worry about the others later. :-)

Try TRAK-IT from Blue Ocean software.
www.blueocean.com will give you a 30 day free trial. For a small office like yours it will be very inexpensive. $495 for the software which includes a 100 seat audit license. The software also includes other things that may be used at your sight, including purchasing, call tracking and other options. Check it out!

good luck

Paul
