ASUS K7V MB

By gmarch ·
I have been trying to get information about the ASUS K7V motherboard and the dimm chips usable on this board. Every time that I find a decent price for a 256mb dimm, it reads not compatible with the K7V. However, the asus specs indicate usability up to 512mb dimms. Any help on why the 256mb dimms would list not usable on the K7V???

Any help would be appreciated.

Hope this helps.

used the motherboard many times. non-ECC PC133 SDRAM 3.3v will work fine. Preferrably Micron

Goto www.pricewatch.com
Search for "Micron 256"
Found it for $45 plus shipping

I have one of these, too, and I feel your pain.

Apparently, the ones you (we) are finding for horribly cheap on Pricewatch.com and elsewhere are a slightly nonstandard, proprietary format (look for the key term "32 x 4"). Many places selling them give you a list of chipsets that will work, and they always say (as you noticed) KX133 EXCEPT ASUS K7V.

Drives me nuts. The "regular" 256M PC133 is running for like 50 or 60 bucks. There doesn't appear to be any help for this, we're just goingto have to buy the expensive kind.

I recommend going here: <http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?model=K7V&DetailMB=Y> will give you the exact specs for the memory you'll need, and their prices are reasonable for a real name brand chip. That's where I will buy mine when I get around to it.

Hope this helps.
