ASUS PSGD1 motherboard/sata hdd problems

by zack247 . Updated 16 years, 2 months ago

i have an asus psgd1 motherboard, but when i try to turn it on, (with everything installed, psu, sata hdd, agp card, ram, etc.) it doesnt start up. the fans start to turn but then the computer shuts off. if i unplug the power to the sata hdd, the computer will boot, but then it will shut off because there is no hard drive. why is it acting like this? its not the power supply, because i tried other ones with different mobos with the same result. what is wrong with my sata hdd? there are 3 plug jacks on it, 1 for info, 1 for power, and then 1 4-pin one that i dont know what it is for. is this the problem? please help!

(Pentium 4, 512mb RAM, 80GB seagate barracuda 7200 sata hdd, asus psgd1 mobo, lg cd-rw drive, 24-pin 350w atx psu. antec casing)
