ATA133 IDE Controller on ATA-100 Mobo

By digor23 ·
Hi, I have a mobo that has ATA100 now, I would like to add more IDE drives.
I would like to ask if i can buy a PCI ATA133 IDE Controller card instead of a ATA100 one. or must i get a ATA100 one?

Yes, you can add a PCI ATA 133 IDE Controller. Personally... I dont recommend it. It's not much faster than the onboard ATA 100 IDE Controller. It is a pain to configure the hard drive to boot from the PCI Controller. If you going to add the ATA 133 IDE Controller card, you may want to think about upgrading you power supply as well.
