With just one Hard Drive attached get error that "Primary Slave Atapi incompatible" have tried several different Hard Drives same message. Assuming IDE bad on Motherboard. Any Suggestions?

Hi Just Try with a different cable. In some cable, it will be written.. to Master and for Slave. So you should connect accordingly And.. if you are confused abt jumpers. just remove all the jumpers and connect (most of the time it will be slave if u remove all the jumpers).
Hope in setup the hdd detection is auto. If not. enter setup mode by pressing the apropriate keys (del,f2 or f10) . and go to advanced .. and in hdd. make that auto.
It's possible that the BIOS is hard set for a slave drive and cannot find it.
Also, TRIPLE check the jumpers on the hard drive. For many hard drives the jumpers are set different for single drive than for master with slave present.
