use the ati rage mobility drivers for it?
they will power it perfectly, and can be downloaded from ati.com free of charge.

what os will work with the chipset?
      All 32 of them
      what office suite?
      all 23 of them

as long as you have the ati supplied drivers.

Usually its not the hardware that has software requirements, its the other way around.

The ATI Rage series is pretty old these days – it was launched in 1999. GeForce 2 is a chipset from ATI’s competitor, nVidia. The GeForce chipset is a little newer, but still in terms of running recent demanding applications such as Games, both are obselete.

Much depends on what you want to do with it. For websurfing and running MS Office, its fine. If you want to play the latest greatest games, you need a whole new computer.

It won’t be compatible with Vista, BTW.

So what applications do you want to run?

I use my laptop for business and do fine. On the other hand summer is here and I travel a lot.My daughter wants to play ?Paws and Claws Pet Vet?, she goes with me when not in school. I love my laptop and as a single mom cost is what I try to avoid.

          Depends on the manufacturer

My finding with most children’s based or educational titles is that they aren’t too advanced and don’t require the latest and greatest. Bets thing to do is to go the the title’s publisher’s website and look at the support area. If you still have the original packaging, it might have the minimums too.
