ATT DSL, Linksysand Dell

By jmlehner ·
I have a Dell latitude that is set up to connect to wifi and DSL lines anywhere - and does. However, although everything is configured properly, I cannot get it to work with either my AT&T DSL line or Linksys wifi at home (although both work fine with my desktop). Please help.

To Connect to Your LinkSys

The only things you need to connect to your LinkSys would be the SSID and encryption key.

Double check that you have your Dell setup properly with those in your network settings.

Also, double check your LinkSys to make sure you aren't filtering by IP or MAC address that would prevent the Dell from connecting.

additionally ... which wifi? a/b/g?

by TG2 In reply to To Connect to Your LinkSy ...

which WiFi do you have at home and is it compatible with your wifi in the laptop?

also making sure that if you have "speedboost" or other technologies, they sometimes won't work with others, and the settings inside the wifi at home have to be checked and lowered to the most common settings that would allow it to work with multiple devices.

keep in mind, if you can, you should be using WPA or better **not** plain WEP.

Here's a very good outline of security issues to help cover that fact..
