Audio interface mishap

By colinabent ·
I have an M-audio Fast Track USB audio interface and it's been working fine since I got it last year: I recorded using it just last week, but today, when trying to record, no signal came through. I look in control panels and the Fast Track Out had some controls, but the Fast Track In had none. The problem occurred when I started using Mixcraft 4.5 but the problem, I discovered, extended beyond that one program. I usually use Cool Edit Pro and the device settings coincide with the audio interface. Did Mixcraft alter settings on my computer (not likely) or do I need new drivers?

There are any number of possibilities here

Try another USB port before you go any further. Also did you apply any M$ updates last week? There was at least 1 for IE8 that became available and possibly more depending on your OS.

If you did apply any M$ Updates go into the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the USB Software and Drivers. Reboot the system and then install the software that came with the USB Sound Device and see if it works now.

If you have a Good Old Software Conflict occurring you may be required to reload the system from scratch here so try the easy things first.
