Audio & UsB pins on mainboard

    Locked

    by shantie ·

A bit confused with the front audio/usb pins on motherboard. The motherboard book never seems to correspond with the connectors that come with case. For example Case wires are marked as follows L-in (white) L-out (red)
    mic-in (orange) R-out (red) R-in (white)
    mic-in (Green) 2xGrnd (black)
    Motherboard book says as follows
    +5v, J1B1,J1Cx, Grnd,Grnd, J1Cy, J1B2, +5
    +5v, J2B1,J2Cx, MidiOut, J2cy, J2B2, Midi in,
How do they relate to each other
I think I have the USB connectors right
    which are Red,white,Green,Black
    Red,white,Green,Black (spare pin)
    Please help, thank you Shantie

      Hi Shantie

The motherboard connectors are difficult to follow, generally you will need a small flash light to see the connector heading on the board, the connector on the board will designated with a number correspondence, locate pin 1 and then reference the manual to see this, usually the even numbers are on one side and odd on the opposite.
Following the color coding wires usually is determined by trial, plug the connectors in one at a time to test, you should note the color orientation for future reference.
+5 is hot wire and generally the colored wire while white will be the gnd when combined.
      black is gnd always

With red and black it will be obvious.

I usually use the facing of connector toward the edge of board

Still confused but will have to close question, I just got a motherboard in with these pins already connected so will note down how these are wired to pins. Thanks for the answer.
