    AudioPCI interrupt

    Locked

    by sparticus ·

To a system with 95, a sound card was added and worked fine. 98 upgrade and now a message of: “The SBPCI interrupt has been routed incorrectly by the system. AudioPCI inactive. Use automatic settings in the device manager.”
In device manager auto settings is checked and says there are no conflicts.

Well, since you’ve already looked in device manager and it reports no conflicts, check and see exactly what IRQ is assigned to the card. Some cards have a problem using IRQ 9, and if yours happens to be assigned to IRQ 9, and if there is another IRQ available in your system, then move the card to a different IRQ. You can move it either manually, or by going into your CMOS and reserving IRQ 9 for a Legacy ISA device, thereby forcing your sound card off of that IRQ. While you’re in your CMOS, verify that the rest of PCI settings are correct.
If that doesn’t help, then I would uninstall the driver and install the sound card driver from the 98 distribution. First try keeping all newer files if prompted, but if that doesn’t help, do it again, this time replacing newer files. I’ve seen this work for SB sound cards.
If neither of the above works, then go to the MFR website and check for the latest drivers for your exact card model.
      Hope this helps!
