auto application shutdown

Is there a way in NT4.0 to shutdown applications automatically if the user has not used them for say 4 or 5 hours but has them open? We want to close applications overnight. Or does restricting the user from nighttime access do this? The core issue is that if a user leave our Database application open we can’t do updates to the menu.
