Auto Disconnect - IE5

By spike ·
Normally when I close IE5 the 'Disconnect - Stay Connected' dialog box pops up automaticaly. A few days ago I closed down and the dialog box failed to appear. I now hae to open the connection icon which appears in the r/h corner of the task bar. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to switch the auto diconnect back on? I have searched but can find no obvious unchecked box. I have a feeling it may be a registry entry which needs changing.
All help much appreciated.

You may find the answer in your ISP dialer properties. For example, the AT&T Worldnet dialer properties allow you to set which applications to launch on connect, and what options to show at disconnect.

If it is IE5 from Windows ME edition just upgrade to version IE5.5 and dialog box pops up on closing again.

Use Caution in the Registry, backup etc.
Goto HKCU\Network\RemoteAccess\Profile\(the ISP you want to change) find the key AutoExitDisconect and replace the 0 in the parenthesis with a 1.

Fairly lengthy but it works. Control panel, internet properties. Then connection tab. choose your dial-up connection then hit properties. from there hit the advanced button. Put a check in the box where it says "disconnect after a connection may no longer be needed" or close to that. good luck
