auto hibernate laptop when external power is cut off

sir, is there any way in windows xp to auto hibernate laptop when external power is cut off and battery is enabled.actually i dont want to use my batteries frequently but cannot resist and keep on doing. can u recommend any software thanks in advance

power schemes

Hi,you didnt say if laptop hibernates immediatelly or after few minutes.if this first is the case i dont think following will help and you might have some other problem.if it waits for some time try to use different power scheme for laptop.if it is showing battery icon in the
system tray right click on it and go to "Adjust power properties".There you can see if the system is set up to hibernate at power disconnect.
if you cant see battery go to Control panel->power options and check there.
As a temporary measure you can try to disable
hibernation but i cant tell you what will your system decide to do then.
First try easy way to change power scheme.
