auto log on to nt workstation

By robertn ·
Can I automatically log on to an NT 4.0 Workstation? I want to be able to go through the entire boot process and bypass the ctrl-alt-del prompt to get right to a default user.

There is an autologin applicaiton on the Windows NT Resource CD. I played with it a bit and it was very easy to install. I'm not sure it will work if you want to authenticate to another server (e.g. Novell) though.

You can edit the regirtry to auto logon.

Run regedit.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows NT
currentversion
Winlogon

Here you will see the default user. Select the line above it. Go to EDIT/new string value.Type Defaultpassword in the value name field.
type the password in the value data field.
