auto login to winNT

By rayhklai ·
After installing Netware5.1 and applied SP2a, I still couldn't find out how to create an windows account by Novell and login Windows NT automatically when I key in my password at Novell login screen.

I don't have Zenworks installed yet.

Anyway recommendations?

Download Novell client 4.8 from the support area of and install it on the NT machine. Make sure the user-id and password are exactly the same on the Novell and NT servers. When you log in you will log in to both systems with one login.

yes, I understand, but I would like to have a roaming profile. Which I mean I can login any NT machines without putting the password in first.

Download ZenWorks. It's "ZenWorks Light" meaning remote management, inventory, and a few other things are disabled, but it's free.

then select the ZenWorks 2.0 Starter Pack under the Management section. If you want to upgrade to the full version later (even 3.0) it upgrades, you're not stuck. As you realize, this will allow you to create/delete NT accounts "on the fly". This will allow the user to roam.

In addition to allowing users to roam, you will find this version a huge time saver for you once everything is set up, even with the free version.

Otherwise you can check out TID 10013350, which describes how to set up NT for autologin for NT & Netware, Netware only, or NT only. It involves some registry hacks (which ZenWorks can push!), so I don't know if this is what you are looking for.
