Automated software installation

By jmeimer ·
I used to work building Application Object Templates using Novell's Zenworks. This object (assuming proper rights) would install software on any machine the user logged onto. (Of course, to do so on NT, the object had to be built for NT and the user had to have NT admin rights). Is there any way to do this on an NT system (without Novell)? Where can I find out how? Thanks

Hello,

If I am interpreting your question correctly, you may be looking for software deployment/automation software.

Look into Microsoft's SMS (Systems Management Server). It lets you script any applications install, including dialog boxes, and deploy it over the network.

Also, the newer Windows Installer supports functions similar to these, with InstallSheild and MSI installs.
