Automatic rebooting of computer

I have a compaq presario 5724 on which i have upgraded the os from win 98 SE to win 2000 pro.Ever since then the computer keeps rebooting while i am trying to surf the net or do anything for that matter. What could be the possible cause of this furstrating rebooting
