Automatically dialing in win98

By excel_gid ·
Situation:

Pentium III 800 MHz machine being used as a server installed with WIN98. The machine is being used in a cable system as a server. If for any reason the machine is shut down/restarted and there is no operator to reconnect it to internet. Is there any way that this server dials it automatically after restarting.

Moreover how the same thing can go in the same system but with win Nt operating system in it.

Theorytically, yes (never try it but it would be possible to my opinion).

Set your Internet Connection to dial automatically (using default dialer).

Connect the normal way using DUN.
Open Windows Explorer, go to the address tab and click any internet address out there (url) in the address tab. Now you are opening internet using your Windows Explorer.
On the right hand side of Windows Explorer you should see the web site.

Leave your Windows Explorer open all the time. Every time Windows restart, it should recall Windows Explorer and open the same internet address which in turn would trigger call to DUN.

Hope it helps.

First, you need to make sure that you have your password saved and auto connect checked on your ISP connection screen.

Next, go to My Computer > Dial-Up Networking > (to your ISP) > (right click) > copy >

Then, go to C: > Windows > Start Menu > Programs > Startup > (right click) > (paste)

I've never done this, but this is the procedure for adding anything to your start menu.

Don't have a clue on Win NT. Possibly a similar procedure, but can't guarantee it.

Good Luck!

the easy way is to take a shortcut link to a website and put it in the startup folder also if it is 98se or nt just change the setting to dial a connection if connection is not present for your network connection.
