Automating Machine Name on Desktop

Is there anyway, using active desktop or other method to display the name of the server on the desktop.
I thought I could generate an HTML file which calls the machine name and then set the desktop with Active Desktop to display this file.
Anybodyknow the details in doing this or any other methods?
My issue is remote support of hundreds of servers in a remote co-loaction and my need to make it clear to the administration team which box they are on at any given moment. The customer names changes regularly and therefore so does the machine name, it is to difficult to manange static bitmaps with names.
If possible I would like to include IP and OS version etc..

I appreciate any help or experience with this type of need.
