Automating network settings

By lorenzamosley ·
Does anyone know of a way to automate the process of changing the network settings (IP, Subnet, gateway, DNS) in Windows 2000 Server. I have a server that is a member of two networks if one is unavailible then we switch to the other. Is there a way to automate the switch?

Have you tried putting a second NIC in the server? This would allow you to configure the network settings for both cards staticly.

there is no way to easily do this unless if you go with a second NIC card...

Redundancy is the key, if the one IP goes down, the other should still be accessable without having to rely on any "process" to ensure the change has been made. There is also less chance of a failure going with the second NIC...
