Locked

AutoPlay

By F3rg13 ·
When the screen is locked, it is not possible to load a music CD and have it begin to play.
Apparently the screen lock function also temporarily deactivates the AutoPlay function as well. Can anyone explain how/where screen lock and AutoPay/Run communicate, or where in Windows the bit gets set to tell AutoPlay not to function while the screen is locked? Secondly, has anyone been successful getting an AutoRun file to launch while the screen is locked?

Locking a machine keeps it in the exact state it is in at the time it is locked. You won't be able to change anything until it is unlocked. A workaround: If you start a music CD and then lock the workstation it will keep playing. A really quick way to lock a machine is to right click your desktop, select new shortcut. In the path window type exactly: rundll32<space> user32.dll,LockWorkStation Name the shortcut whatever you want, drag it down to the quicklaunch bar and you can lock your machine with a single click.
