    Azure File Share

    by logisores ·

We have acquired a company and we need to transfer their data to our Azure File Share. SMB is blocked and we want to try to copy data using https API. We can do that with Storage Explorer but it does not copy incrementals. I know we can use Azcopy but I cannot seem to get it to work. Do we have to open up port 445 which security is refusing to do it as they said also the ISP blocks it). Getting a VPN setup does not seem to be feasible at this time.

Can you login into their Azure File Share with their credentials? Then copy all data you need to any place you have access to and can copy it from there to your own Azure file share.

Every IT person I know can whip up a VPN or use other ISPs in just a few minutes.

Whoever your IT staffer is here, send them off on an errand and use the next person in line.

Our team walked out of a project over the cybersecurity team blocking our work.

I just heard the head of the cyber team got reprimanded over shutting down projects like this. We weren’t the first or last it seems.

What we were working on was a Windows driver. Sorry cyber folk, you can’t lock developers out like that.

If someone decides to block you from doing your job, it’s now THEIR JOB to get it done.

You have several options like Storage Explorer works great but deltas will be a problem. You can try powershell or you can use Richcopy 360, this is not a free product but not expensive either. This can also support https to azure files and azure blob too. This is a GUI version if you do not like CLI
