2 ways:

Browse to the user OE Store folder and make a copy of ALL of the files there. There should be 1 *.dbx file for each OE folder, and another file that is a list of folders.

You will also need to back up the address book and account settings separately.

Use a utility such as OE Backup.

The location of the store folder varies by version of Windows and OE.

For W9X, it should be under
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft

For W2K or XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{a string}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Actually in W98 it is in C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\(long string)\Microsoft\outlook express.

What I have done is to create an email folder in the folder that I backup (so it is automatically backed up) and then re configured OE to use that folder. You can import your existing messages to the new folder.

To change the folder in OE go to TOOLS - OPTIONS - MAINTENANCE - STORE FOLDER and select the new email folder.
