Backing up end user data

by lingner . Updated 25 years ago

The end users in my office have the ability to save any important files to designated shared folders which are backed up nightly. However, some users feel that some of their files contain information too sensitive to risk saving to a network drive and would rather keep these files on their own PC. In this case, I would like to implement a backup policy for end users in which they formally request frequent backups of designated local folders or perhaps one backup folder, and I then put it on a scheduled backup. Are their other companies that do something similar, and what are the pros and cons? Is there a published article that talks about this type of approach?
