backing up sql 2000 databases

By NatCat ·
I have been trying to change the location that my sql databases are backed up. Each time I change or remove the backup location and create another one, a backup is done to the choosen location.

Then if I reopen the backup properties for the DB, it has returned to the original value.

Is there another way to configure the backup of an SQL database other than in sql server/tool/backup database ?

I use Veritas!
The Veritas Backup Exec gives you more control over what you want to do with the files you are backing up.

Thanks, but is there anyway to do it with the sql enterprise manager ?
I should have been able to change the location of the backup permanently.

You can either use Veritas with the SQL Server option, or you can use Windows Backup, which should also allow you to do an online backup of your SQL Server.

Are you using SQL server enterprise manager to administrate your SQL server?

If using enterprise manager, look in Management > SQL Server Agent > Jobs. This should have all the backup jobs that run. I'm assuming you can see your SQL databases in enterprise manager (ie, you registered them.)

I'm not seeing a management tab, button or menu item called Management in SQL Server Enterprise manager
