backing up sql

By avramk456 ·
hi all

i am new in sql, and i wonder what way to backup my server.
i have backupexec but need to buy the sql agent.
or i can use a script.

manuall backup show that in the databases, system databases need to backup one by one, and there is no task option there.
not like base made by the user.
also, what about security should i backup it.
are there more to be backedup?

thanks
zavik

Run the enterprise manager, and run the backup wizard. (Run the wizard, select Management->Backup Wizard)at the last window check Schedule, go to change and select your option (save daily, weekly, or whatever, and the time when the backup is execute). With database backup you back up all settings regarding that database. You don't need to backup else.

depending on how you have sql server set up there can be a lot of processes to stop and start and some logs and intermediate transactions stuff to backup. i would buy the sql agent. and rehearse it when you get it.
