Backing up to Multiple Data Disc

Locked

by natelanman ·

This should be a very quick fix, and I’ve done it before however the solution escapes me at the moment. I have a 6GB file that I’d like to back up to multiple DVD’s. However, the software I am using (Sonic RecordNow Plus – Full license) is stating that I need to reduce the file size in order for it to fit. I know that I have backed up to multiple DVD’s/CD’s in the past however what am I doing wrong here?

Thanks guys!

Nate

You need to chose the Span Option

So that you can Span the backup across different Media. You have most likely chosen the wrong program to use here but as I’m not familiar with this particular Recording Program I’m not sure what the correct program to use is.

However you need to Span the backup’s across several Disc’s to do what you require.

Span?

Hi Hal or Col,
Yes, I know it’s possible but with what software tool. In fact, I have done it before but never with one large file.

As stated above this software isn’t my strongest point

But maybe you could use some backup program and save to the DVD Media.

Personally I’ve only ever used either Easy CD Creator or Nero and there is a Span Option in both of those and I’ve seen some people use the Standard Windows Backup program to backup large chunks of data to a DVD which may be of some use to you but unfortunately with this particular program I’m not sure what the exact answer is. However there should be a Help File in the software that should be able to tell you how to achieve this with what you are using.
