Backup across the Internet

By jamie ·
Hello all!

Here's what I want to do:

We have a corporate office in FL with MSSQL / Exchange / Terminal Server / etc... I want to have a server in TN that can serve as a backup if there is a disaster... I also want to back up nightly (differential) to that server across the internet

any suggestions on this senario? and what software should I look at for the nightly backup across the internet?

Thanks for any advise / suggestions

Jamie

depends

depends how much data your talking about backing up. We backup here locally onsite and it takes 15 hours to complete on a 100mb network...... if we backed it up remotely on say 8mb it wouldnt be finised by the end of the day!

Goodsync or Carbonite

by formerly CallPete.com In reply to depends

Carbonite is an online service that backs up unlimited data for $50/yr. After the initial backup, it only backs up changed files, so its reasonably quick.

Since you are looking to do it yourself, you might look at a program called GoodSync. After you get your VPN/file transfers set up, it can be set to push or push/pull changed files on a schedule.
