As of Jan …my company consolidated our 2 office Novell Lans to Win 2k & termianl serevics via a T1. I use to run a separate daily full backup at each location at night and it would complete about 7 am the next day on DD3 dat drives.. We now have a PDC, Terminal, DC,web server and Exchange server and I only have 1 dds4 dat tape drive. When I tried to run a fool backup of the entire network everynight it took 3 tapes and would run from 11pm at night until about 3pm the next day. This concerned me because users were already changing files used the day before but I was still backing up. I also found that if I tried to change to a differnetial…Exchange would fail. I tried taking Exchange out of my regular backup and run it separately. That works…..but now I am in manual mode because I have to run Excahnge during the day (Full) instead of at night. We also have some software that we think needs a full backup instead of a Diff. I would then have to do this manually everyday. Any siggestions on backup stratagies. I am in a CPA office so there is very important data being backed up/restored. Please let me know what kind of backup scheme would be efficient. Presently running M-W (Diff) on network (not including Exchange). Thur- (Full) on network (no including Excahnge). Friday-Sun (Diff). M-F (Full) Exchange only. Can I tell a certain directory to be backed up everytime regardless of chnages with an Diff backup?
