Backup Exec 12.5 can't search catalogs

By TonytheTiger ·
We haven't had occasion to do so since updating to 12.5, but I cannot search catalogs for filenames either exact or wildcard.

I can drill down to any file and restore it that way, so I know the catalogs are there.

I have tried re-inventorying, re-cataloging, and checked the registry settings that the Backup Exec help site suggested and they were OK.

Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of

is your database that stores that is corrupt. That would keep a rebuild from working.

Not sure how to fix it though.

Good luck.

if the rebuild had failed, there would be an indication... they showed "successful".

THanks

Corrupted DB entries

by jck In reply to I would have thought

Just wondering if there is a difference in how the rebuild accesses the data vs the search.

Maybe an alias is corrupt.

Not really sure. I just remember reading something about DB corruptions.

And, I bet total reinstall is out of the question?

I know it would be here. since we backup 12TB a night.

I'm retiring the end of next week. I might just leave it for the next guy :)

:)

But Symantec has known about this problem for a couple of months, and is planning a hotfix by May in case anyone else runs into it.
