Backup Exec 8.0 and win2k server!

By wleodbd ·
My scheduled backup procedure keeps failing at the end of the backup. Also, under my domain with dhcp server I am able to see the content of the server but not with the server with static ip address. Please, help!

Backup Exec 8.0 and win2k server!

Need more specifics on the failing on veritas, what does the log say? Maybe you need to make an lmhost file for the server with ip, is it in an nt network (mixed nt and 2000)? Sometimes there are browsing problems in the two, is there a wins server? Sorry for all the questions, it helps come to the answer though. Are running a service pack on the win2k server?

Backup Exec 8.0 and win2k server!

My guess by the above....it's the backup exec service account rights. As much as I have tried to restrict the rights...I have found that using a very very very hard to guess password and giving the backup exec account Schema, enterprise & domain admin rights works best. Also...if it's a server, in order for WINS & DNS to work correctly you best give it a static IP.
