Backup Exec 8.5 & Windows 2000 Server

By bill ·
After installing SR2 for Windows 2000 server Backup exec failes to connect to the server "Connection with server failed" Backup exec worked fine up until SR2 was installed. We tested this on two Intell 5000 raid servers both did the same. Servers are running the Intell STL2 server board, and the Seagate 24Gig DDS backup drive connected to the onboard scsi controller, we are using the Intel SRCU31L Raid contoller. The only way we can get Backup Exec to work again is to format and re-load.

Backup Exec 8.5 & Windows 2000 Server

by rsutton In reply to Backup Exec 8.5 & Windows ...

Had same problem.
1st- Make sure "Apple Talk Protocal" is not on any of the servers. Not needed unless you connect with Mac's. If this is the case no need to go on.
2nd- Try Creating a LMHosts file with all the servers and their IP addresses in it. Windows 2000 relies mostly on DNS to resolve server names and unless you are running a DNS server this could be a problem. 2000 only supports NetBios names for backward compatablility and can be flacky.

Good Luck!
