Backup Exec CRC errors

By jbrown ·
Have a Seagate 10/20 Travan Tape unit. I get
CRC errors sometimes on backup and after that, the tape is unusable. When installed, it reports as a bad tape. I suspect a hardware problem. Any thoughts.

Possibilities with that type of drive are numerous.
Mostly related to stretched tape. Try retensioning and reformatting the tape.
Mostly occurs in drives that have done a fair amount of work. Most efficient solution is to get a new drive, preferrably a DAT drive as the tape is not as stressed..
