Backup Exec issue

By stuart.douglas ·
I have backup exec version 8 and was wondering if there is a way configuring a job to run for predetermined amount of time before failing. Currently I've got a job which runs onto two tapes but after the first it fails straight away. Can see anything obvious in the software to configure this.

BE for windows?

It would help to know what kind of error you get when the first tape fails.

I?ve checked in the registry and under the path hkey_local_machine\software\veritas\adamm\alerts there are entries for the following with the numbers representing the decimal values:-

Insert media response 3
Insert media timeout 48
Insert overwrite media changer response 1
Overwrite media response 2
Overwrite media timout 48
Remove media response 1
Remove media timeout 48

I?m sure one of these settings relates to my current issue as currently the backup is too large to fit on one tape and I receive an email message to put another tape in the drive. Almost immediately after receiving this message the backup job is aborted. When you check the log of the job it just mentions that the job was aborted. Can you help

Stuart:
First I must admit, I have no knowledge of tape autoloading, sorry. It definetly sounds like that is what you are dealing with, correct? If this is not a tape autoloader then your setup is wrong.
I did a search on some of your errors at: Veritas http://tinyurl.com/pr5ou
There were 50 documents, but the first to come up tht might ring abell, check out: http://support.veritas.com/docs/192055
