Backup Exec v8.6 -semaphore timeout

By stahler ·
The semaphore timeout period has expired. I am running a W2k SP3, Dell PowerEdge 6300. I just purchased an HP Ultrium, External drive. I have been testing it, it works great. I simulated a disaster, the Backup Server crashed. For the heck of it, I just installed 2k again, Backup Exec. When I try to Catalog the tape I backed up with I get the above error. I installed the latest SCSI drivers, the latest tape drive drivers...., any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A semaphore timeout usually happens because the storage device driver did not receive a response back from the storage device or the controller within a specific amount of time. This document http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/190598.htm
will guide you through some trouble shooting steps that will hopefully solve your problem.
