Backup in windwos 2003 server

Dear all,

I have string problem with Backup in windwos 2003 server. I am schaduling Backup task, when it run it doesn’t regonise the tape media (4mm DDS4) but with the same schadule task if I run it mnually it will work proberly.

make sure that there are available tapes in the Removable Storage library for it to work.

Your problem is most likely the name of the media. Run the
backup task from a bat file Where you specify the name of the
tape you are looking for. One of the advantages of better backup
software is the ability to tell it to use any tape in the drive.
NTBACKUP has many limitations they are almost all bypassabl;e
by running from a bat file script.

If you look at the properties of the job you will see the string of
commands they are using. Just copy it to notepad and edit using
this site as a reference (The 814583 are part of the link and
wrapped so just copy the whole link to your browser):

Then schedule the bat file as a task.

What does the backup report say? You may want to check the command string in the scheduled job. I have had this same experience, the job report was blank and the command string in the scheduled job had an alphanumeric string instead of the name of the tape drive (library). I solved this by downloading and installing a new driver for the tape drive. The driver in Server 2k3 had gotten corrupted somehow. After I did this all was well.
