Backup over WAN connection

by creyn . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

I am in the process of deploying a remote site for the first time.

My question regards the possibility of backing up a site server across the T1 WAN connection between the remote site and the central agency servers.

I realize that there are quite a few variables involved in a question like this, but if folks could give me a general idea of how feasible/practical this might be that would be great. Any additional pitfalls or things I should evaluate before going this route would also be greatly appreciated.

BACKGROUND INFO:

I am a Windows 2000 shop, and plan on running a single server at the remote location connected to our central servers by T1. My backup package is Veritas Backup Exec and a Compaq DLT drive.

The remote server will perform file and print services, in addition to the role of Domain Controller and Global Catalog.

The office will host approx 8 endusers and the volume of files that they store on the network should be small. (< 1G). I would want to backup both the server Os and the user data.
