Backup to another server (non-novell)

By mouldr ·
How can we set up an automatic backup to another server? We have a Net Integrator Lite we want to backup to. Novell 6 seems to want the device you are backing up to to be directly attached to the Novell server and not on the network. Any suggestions?

Backup to another server (non-novell)

If you are talking about a simulated Tape Backup then yes Novell will not see as a backup solution. Products like Veritas, Arcserve etc will not see it as a backup device.

However, Quantum makes a tapeless or disk based backup solution. It can be found at: http://www.quantum.com/News+and+Press/Press+Releases/03-04-2002.htm

This solution will appear to the above software packages as a tape drive. The advantage here is that the data is accessible in a live drive. Thus a copy or NCOPY could be used to restore rather than a tape restore.

Hope this helps

How are you backing up? Are you using an application? Does it recoginze the Lite? If you were to NCOPY from the NetWare server to the Lite server via a workstation, would that suffice?
