Bad motherboard?

by michael . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

Recently I purchased an ECS P4M899PRO motherboard from Fry’s. Of course, my wife washed my shirt with the receipt in the pocket. I installed the mootherboard and could occasionally get something on the display, but not every time it was started.

Then it stopped bringing up anything on the screen. I once heard a beep on startup so I replaced the DDR memory with two new 512 DDR2 sticks (533). Now I no longer get a beep, all fans start, and the DVD drive lights for a second for what appears to be drive test. Can’t hear or feel the hard drive rev, but it might be.

Problem: No display of any kind. Tried two known working displays. Tried an older PCI display card, but nothing.

Is the board bad? Like the display circuitry?

Thanks for any help.
Michael
