Bad Print Job sent to Network Printer

By jshtcm213 ·
Help: A user can print a single document when she sends it over to the color printer, but when she tries to print 5 pages or more it just sits in the queue and you cant even delete the job from the client side. So its clogging up all other print jobs. Im able to send print jobs to that printer without a problem no matter how many pages. Theres not much I can do on the server side except for kill print jobs or assign the user full rights to any network printer.... right?
Any advice would be helpful, thank you

Couple of suggestions. On the users computer check the setup/preferences of the printer, compare it to yours. Try a different driver. Delete the printer and reinstall it. Is the printer shared through a server? If so, are the users rights for the printer the same as everybody else. Try a different network cable on the users computer and possibly another network card. When this has happened where I work it has always been on of the these things that has fixed the problem. One other thing, does this happen no matter what program they are trying to print from or only a certain one?

Sue t is right but also check what they are printing. If it is a word doc. with pictures inserted or embeded check the size of the pics. They may be too big to be used by the printer. Also do you have another printer that they can try to print to? Uninstall Office and reinstall it. Is this just one thing they print and reuse if so have them make a one with out copying any thing from the old doc.
