      hi there,
      Dear friend,
you can do it with traffic shapping in cisco routers.
you must define your access list that includ your web server ip address (or mac address)
and apply your desire limitation on IN & OUT bytes with this access list.
but you have not told me that what is your web server,
depending your webserver type, you can search for some taraffice shapping software .

What the previous poster said is a more advanced way of total bandwidth control of your entire network. However, you mentioned bandwidth control realted to web servers. You didn’t name your web server. With some you can directly control the bandwidth used by the server from within the web server software itself. For instance, with IIS 4.0 you can do this incredibly easy, its plain as day in the control panel where you sent bandwidth limits.

If you give me more info about the web server you are using (specific version number is useful too) I’ll be happy to help you further.

Yes, Router’s Access List is one way but another way is using IIS 4.0 or 5.0 to set bandwidth limits on your web site.

http://www.packeteer.com – TCP rate control software “in a box”.

http://www.sitaranetworks.com – Similar type of thing and includes a web cache too.

Both these products are great and you don’t need to be a rocket scientists to use them !
