basic netware 5.1 setup

By bucher.1 ·
I am a novell beginner and am having problems setting up a netware 5.1 server. I have f disked the HD's and am ready to load Dr. Dos or Caldera but don't know where/how to load these onto the server.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks...

If your server-to-be can boot from CD, just boot from the NW5.1 CD. It will partition the disk and install enough of DR-DOS to boot the server.

If you want to pre-partition the hard drive, and do a full install of DR/Caldera DOS you can do so (and save a re-boot). Generally speaking, you make a small-ish partition for DOS (I usually use 500MB), then let NetWare installer create a netware partition on the rest.

Bud is right about the DOS partition. Create only one primary dos partition, remove the rest of the partitions. The Caldera Dos can be found on your Netware License diskette. Boot your license diskette, format c: /s, copy the dos files you need to C:, add a CDROM driver to config.sys and MSCDEX /NWCDEX to autoexec.bat. Then start install.bat from the Netware CD.
