Basic things to know about

By Dolphin111 ·
Hey everyone,
I would like to get some advice, i'm about to get a new job as IT Support at a big company, i would like to find out, what are the things i should have in mind or prepare myself for the first days at work? I will be going for the second Interview with the HR after being on the first one with the company's IT pro.
Please give me any insight on this issue.

Get to know the network....server names etc.
Some users ALWAYS have a problem! Find out who they are & kill them with kindness!
Network printers are evil!
Try to learn the basics on any "custom" software...it makes trouble shooting easier.
Some users think they NEED admin rights....don't give it to them.
Don't fall into the "gossip trap"...you have access to very private info about everyone & they know it!
Did I say network printers are evil?
Take ANY & ALL training they offer!!
Use this site when you get stumped or need a second opinion (or should I say 50 opinions...lol)

There's much more....good luck with the new job.
