Can I make a bat file to start like as service?

I think that you could take the bat file and run it through some type of compiler and make it into an executable that runs as a service, OR take the bat file and place it in the start menu on the pc or server, that way it will kick off each time thepc is restarted. I have done the latter of these two. Works fine.

The Windows NT Resource Kit srvany.exe and instrsrv.exe were made just to do that.
