Batch File Error Log

Can someone show me what to write for a batch file?

I’m transferring files via WPut locally to an ftp site. How can I create a batch file to keep a log of this, and report any errors during the transfer process to a log file? Maybe even have the log file emailed to a specific address. I’m not very experienced with this..so a typeout of the code would help greatly.
