Batch file Programming help

By RDA_666 ·
I have 600 + Windows XP and Windows 7 computers in our environment.

I need to find out which users currently have a specific Program.lnk on their desktop and replace that with NewProgram.lnk.

For each computer I need to record the computername and if the Program.lnk existed and if it was successfully replaced. I would prefer to have this file created in excel on the server I will run the batch file from.

Any thoughts?

I'd settle for getting my output in a comma-separated values (.CSV) file. This is a plain-text file that can be opened in Excel. I see four fields: system name, did the old link exist, was it deleted, was the new one copied.
