Batch file to uninstall McAfee 8.7?

By CharlieSpencer ·
Does anyone have a batch file that incorporates the commands in McAfee's KB59996?

The link lists the manual procedures for removing McAfee VirusScan 8.7 client when 'Add / Remove' doesn't work.

Thanks either way.

Still working my butt off, but try this for the framework, then try another uninstall.
You will need the install path, then frminst.exe /

When the FS won't work, remove it:

- updater: frminst /remove=agent
- epoagent: frminst /remove=updater
- when above options won't fix the problem: frminst /forceuninstall

Thanks, but I had to do it the hard way.

No variation or parameters of frminst had any success. I spent a few hours copying and pasting from the KB to build a series of .bat and .reg files.

I received a peer mail regarding the batch files

From e-mail address johlee991, TR member name unknown:

"Do you have that file available for share? I know that batch file would be greatly appreciate among the many admins we have here in the world? :-D "

It's a very crude solution. I'll be happy to share them, but obviously they are 'use at your own risk'. My batch programming skills are minimal, and you would be wise to test all commands and registry changes manually. Peer mail me if you want them.

I've got two sets of files: one for 32-bit, one for 64-bit. Each set has two batch files and four registry files. A reboot is required after each batch file. The first .BAT calls three of the registry files (among other commands); the second batch calls a fourth.

These are based on McAfee KB59996 for removing VirusScan 8.7. See McAfee KB53635 for links to the instructions for versions other than 8.7. KB59996 includes instructions for removing Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook client integration; these steps are NOT in the batch files, since neither of these were on any of the servers I was working with.
