batch files within windows 2000

Brick wall batch file. I am in need of a DOS expert. I am running into a brick wall writing a batch file which calls two windows applications. The problem is after the batch file hits the first application, it will not continue until I close that1st application being called. Is their a way around this? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,
Have you tried calling the app with the start command?

IE -

start myfirstapp.exe
start mysecondapp.exe

This will cause the batch file to continue processing past both apps while they are running. If you want the batch file to waiton the second app, then just don't use start for that one. BTW, sometimes you can hit the problem in reverse - you want the batch file to wait on an app but instead it moves on while the app is running. To get round this you can use

start /wait myapp.exe
or

call myapp.exe

Hope this helps....

Start was the answer indeed. Once I figured that out I could use the start /? for all the parameters required. Thanks.
