I have an older computer that acts as both a BDC and print server. As a print server it works fine, but as a BDC it doesn’t. Any computer that has this BDC as the main “logonserver” fails to log into the network. The only function of this computer is to backup my main PDC and to act as a secondary print server. I have a couple of printers directly connected to this computer, not networked and it seems to work fine.
My problem, or maybe my solution is to just replace this old and slow machine, PII350 256MB, with a little newer one, K6-2 336 256MB. I believe this older BDC computer is just about ready to “give up the ghost” and I don’t want to be caught behind the eight ball. Anyone have any other thoughts that I should consider before going ahead with the replacement?
The current machine is getting slower and slower every day, regardless of the restarts. For the most part, nothing is done on this computer, other than the above mentioned tasks.
