Been spoofed... anything else I should do?

By gadgetgirl ·
Sorry if you're on the receiving end of this one, but my hotmail got spoofed in the early hours of this morning. First time ever. Fortunately, I was having a bad night, and was online anyway and saw it happening.

It's exactly the same as on here:

(Nothing in the sent box btw and I've checked signatures and autoresponder just in case)

There is a lot of info out there on this, and I've followed all of it. Everything was up to date, last updated 10pm yesterday, then was updating when it started happening. I only use strong passwords anyway, so I'm stumped.

I've run every scan I can think of, run spybot, run myself round in circles.

Seems like M$ want to put the blame on the user: from other posters elsewhere, if they do get a reply, it's a "how to secure your computer" bland reply.

Only use FF, strong passwords, update every time I'm online, don't use bluetooth at home, WiFi is secure -

I admit this has taken most of the day to check out with scans etc., and I'm now brain dead.

Have I missed anything, peeps?

And again, apologies to anyone who got the spam email. I really have NO idea what happened, as you can probably tell.

thanks in advance

sad and sorry GG

One last thing you should do:

I got one. Instantly deleted it; unopened, unread.

The big advantage you have is that we know you and love you and they don't.

No biggie here, babez.

Earthlinks SpamBlocker (Brightmail) caught it. I wouldn't have known diddly about it without your warning.

They're slick out there...

Probably get some sleep!

I actually got two and was interested enough to actually look on a non windows box. I did like the idea that it was pushing Drugs of the more common variety.

But I did like the listing for Soma, kind of reminds me of a SiFi Movie I saw years ago. Now When my Soma arrives I'll be overdosing on it and going into a Soma Coma. :^0

I absolutely refuse to click on another of your links

Until I did.

I absolutely refuse to delve.

Wm Hazlett said it, when he said, "Why read authors and neglect your own wits."

Writing, of course, as an author.

The way Lao Tzu did.

Hit shift-delete the moment I got it

I knew it hadn't come from you because the woman who got the window of "Spankarama" all steamed up on her last London visit doesn't, I reckon, get off on "exciting and crazy Hotmail stories". Doesn't exactly get the juices flowing!

No apologies necessary. The old saying "happens to the best of us" is proven true here.

I've not known GG to spit out a bland, generic 'hello'.

It was in my Yahoo spam bucket, but I replied to GG as soon as I saw it, just to give her a heads up. I followed the link using my Ubuntu box running FF and noscript.
If I wanted drugs I would take my doctor up on the Narcotic pain killer offers. But, I don't want drugs.
